Bastille Dinner

Anchor 1

The Annual Bastille Dinner was held again this year at Frenchies Restaurant, attended by 30 members and guests. Most got into the spirit by dressing the part, ooh la la, with our Bailli Leon Naus presenting members with berets to ensure atmosphere to the occasion.

The delicious, authentically French, 4 course menu, with matching French wines can be viewed on our website.

Our Bailli, introduced and graciously thanked Head Chef Fabian Oliveau and Restaurant Manager Eileen Schumacher for an enjoyable evening rivalled only by the usual camaraderie of a  Sunshine Coast Chaîne event.

For a spot of History, curtsey of Wikipedia:

Bastille Day is the common name given in English-speaking countries to the national day of France, which is celebrated on 14 July each year. The French National Day is the anniversary of the Storming of the Bastille on14 July 1789, a major event of the French Revolution, as well as the Fête de la Fédération that celebrated the unity of the French people on 14 July 1790. Celebrations are held throughout France. One that has been reported as "the oldest and largest military parade in Europe" is held on 14 July on the Champs-Élysées in Paris in front of the President of the Republic, along with other French officials and foreign guests.

As La Confrérie de la Chaîne des Rôtisseurs is an international gastronomic society founded in Paris in 1950. It is fitting we celebrate this National Day.
