The Athenaeum Club is an exclusive, invitation only Members club. The first building was established in 1868, over the years moving to a second location, before in 1929 a third building was designed and built at 83-87 Collins St in Melbourne. (an easy walk from The Hotel Windsor Hotel)

The club was founded during a political crises in1868 as a neutral meeting ground.

The present-day Lord Mayor of Melbourne – The Honourable Nick Reece, will officially open our 50-year Celebrations forming a true link between the very first person who signed the Chaine Australia Guest book in 1977, this being The Honourable Sir Irvin Rockman the Lord Mayor of Melbourne at that time. To create a welcoming ambience the accomplished, award-winning pianist Calvin Leung will create a welcoming atmosphere with his repertoire of classical, jazz and blues background music.
