Junior Sommelliers and Young Chefs Competition Benefit Day
On Sunday 22 November John Studdert, National Echanson, and Dennis Mather, National Gastronomique, hosted a fund raiser at their home in Petersham.
It was attended by 18 guests and raised in excess of $3000. This money will be used to help support the costs of sending our National Winners to their respective International Competition venues. The afternoon commenced with a gin and champagne cocktail served with canapes of buckwheat blinis topped with smoked salmon and sour cream. It was supported by Judith Kennedy of the CEO Australian Gin Distillers Assoc. The Wines. trophy winners in the Australia and New Zealand Wine Challenge or Six Nations Wine Challenge, were donated by Ross Anderson CEO of the Australian Association of Winemakers. The first wines were two masked, and while guests decided what they thought the wines were Andres Aragon provided a complete description.
Andres represented Australia in the 2019 International Young Sommeliers Competition in Seoul where he was awarded the bronze medal. Next, we had three ladies including our newest member, each opening a bottle of Mumm NV by sabrage. We finished up with a bottle of Lindemans 1982 VP Bin 6237.
