27 October dinner Tamarind
A beautiful Asian fusion themed dinner was held at Tamarind Restaurant in Cairns which is part of the Reef Casino complex on October 27th
Delicious food in a very elegant restaurant...wonderful evening.
5 October Mondial terror of Langhorne Creek
A great Mondial event was held at the seaside home of Sharon and Bruce Parry in beautiful Mission Beach.
Members were given a very informative presentation by Grant Manypenney regarding the terror of Langhorne Creek in South Australia. This included video interviews with several well known winemakers who discussed the impact this unique terror has on their wines of course these premium wines had to be tested and were accompanied by some delicious Mediterranean tapas.
14 July Bastille Day Formal Dinner
A wonderful evening of French food, wine and culture was held on Bastille Day at Ochre Restaurant on the Cairns Waterfront,
The beautiful 6 course feast showcased classical French ingredients but with the added use of “bush tucker” touches that Ochre is famous for.
The Can Can dancers were an added bonus! Ooh La La!
2 June Shangri Black Tie Amical
An amicale was held at the Shangri La Hotel and members were treated to a beautifully cooked and presented four course dinner. Champagne was served on the terrace with delicious canopies. Then dinner was served in a private room that was beautifully decorate in lime green and white with potted plants.
28 April Art Deco dinner at The Queens Hotel, Innisfail
A wonderful “costume” dinner was held at the newly refurbished Queens Hotel in Innisfail south of Cairns. The hotel and whole town has significant Art Deco architecture and in that spirit all the attendees were dressed in 1920’s costume.
A great meal and paired wines accompanied a wonderful evening where many members stayed overnight at the hotel!
7 April Mondial Coral Sea Brewing Beer Tasting
A very interesting and informative Mondial event was held at the Coral Sea Brewery in central Cairns.
Members were given a very thorough understanding of the whole beer brewing process and of course got to sample their products.
This was accompanied by great German beerhall snacks and some German wines as well. After that all the members went for dinner to the Shangri La Hotel on the Cairns Esplanade. A really enjoyable event!
